In a world where ageing means slowing down and waiting for life to happen on its own, Happy Folks Club is rewriting the narrative, proving that age is just a number.
To bring this to light, I'd like to introduce our flagship program, SWATANTRA, designed to empower senior citizens.
A School Beyond Age
Swatantra is not just a program, it is a school for senior citizens where they come together, learn, engage and grow with the fast-moving world. It creates a unique age-diverse culture where wisdom meets youthful energy. Senior citizens learn about new technology and recent trends, while youth engage with them and learn from their wisdom and experience.

What makes Swatantra truly special?
Here, Seniors are paired with young volunteers who teach them and update them on the new trends and technologies, so they do not feel isolated from the world they grew up in. These interactions create a vibrant atmosphere filled with laughter and loads of learning.
Swatantra aims at making a fresh start and not as the end of a final chapter. Many participants obviously hesitate and would be on edge of their nerves as they would not have visited a classroom in decades, but within some time, the energy shifts; the place is filled with laughter and a spark that almost feels child-like in the best possible way.
Our participants have loved every bit of the sessions that have been conducted, as it is not just some fiction storytelling or pointless distraction. It is practical and focuses on things that genuinely make life easier.
Participants learn how to use mobile phone applications, stay aware of the online risks and frauds and gain much more technological awareness. The best part here is that it is not a lecture but a lively interactive session. It is not one-sided teaching- it's an exchange where stories are shared, and perspectives are shifted.

The 7-Day Journey
Swatantra is designed as a 7 Day session that involves learning essential life skills such as:
Digital Literacy and Cybersecurity
Financial Awareness
Communication and self-expression
Mental Health and Emotional Well-being
Through a blend of all these sessions and interactive activities, senior citizens experience transformation.
This program transforms classroom sessions into community spaces where everyone is heard and valued.
A Celebration Of Growth: Graduation Day
At the end of the 7-Day sessions, there is a graduation ceremony held by the Happy Folks Club. It may sound simple and regular, but just imagine yourself graduating at the age of 80, when you have lost touch with school/college life and do not even have a vague picture of a classroom to remember your youth. It's the most emotional moment of all. I myself would want to go back to my college life and revisit all the memories I had with my friends and teachers, and graduate all over again if life gave me such an opportunity in my old age.
Graduation doesn't just mean wearing the gown and receiving the certificates. It is the celebration of gaining confidence, socializing and overcoming hesitations and fears. There is a sense of fulfilment and companionship after the sessions have come to an end.
Not just an Initiative
Swatantra is not just an engaging activity for senior citizens, but a source of inspiration that proves that ageing doesn't have to stop us from learning and doing whatever we want. Growth doesn't have an expiry date, and you just need to look around to find the right atmosphere to rediscover yourself.
Swatantra means freedom. And in many ways it's about finally having the freedom to become who you've always wanted to become- without any restrictions.
Because at the end of the day- AGE IS JUST A NUMBER!
